Flashing/Writing System Images of Android-Based Operating System Releases to Mobile Computer (Smartphone/Tablet)







        • Re-boot System (after completion of the flashing process)
        • Initially, the device may re-boot to system recovery, instead of to system, once or twice. Each time that happens, simply:
          • Re-boot -> System

  • Target Android device: Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 (7nm Snapdragon 865+, U.F.S. 3.0 flash storage, 11.0in/280mm 16:10 120Hz 2560x1600 274PPI IPS LCD)
      • Backup important data from the target device to some other device
      • Remove any Samsung or Google accounts on the target Android device
      • Remove any screen lock on the target Android device
      • Boot to Download (Odin) Mode & Unlock the Bootloader of target Android device:
        • Power-off the device
      • Download the image files that correspond to your target device [ gts7lwifi | gts7l ] :
        • iode-[...]-vbmeta.img
      • Convert recovery.img and vbmeta.img files to tar file format, using the following command via the command-line interface on a secondary Windows or Linux computer:
        • tar -cfv --format=ustar iode-[...]-recovery.tar iode-[...]-recovery.img
        • tar -cfv --format=ustar iode-[...]-vbmeta.tar iode-[...]-vbmeta.img
      • Flash the system recovery image, recovery.tar, and the vbmeta.tar file using Brokkr software application (from within an Android, Linux or Windows computer that is connected to the target Android device via a high-quality U.S.B. data cable):
        • Boot to Download (Odin) Mode (on the target Android device)
          • Power-off the device
          • Enter Download (Odin) Mode, by selecting Continue.
        • Configure the Brokkr flashing tool to not auto-reboot
        • Select for the AP field -> iode-[...]-recovery.tar
        • Select for the USERDATA field -> iode-[...]-vbmeta.tar
        • Start the flashing process
      • When this flashing process has completed, one can now enter into Android System Recovery mode and proceed to flash the system image.
      • Flash the system image (from within Android System Recovery mode on the target Android device)
        • Boot to Android System Recovery Mode (on the target Android device)
          • Power-off the device
        • Using Android System Recovery modified by Lineage OS
          • Factory Reset -> Format Data (WARNING: ALL USER DATA ON TARGET DEVICE WILL BE ERASED)
          • Apply update -> Apply from ADB
            • adb devices
            • adb sideload iode-[...]-ota.zip
          • Revert to Android System Recovery mode on the target Android device
          • Re-boot system now (after completion of adb sideload command, the flashing process)
          • Initially, the device may re-boot to system recovery, instead of to system, once or twice. Each time that happens, simply:
            • Re-boot -> System

  • Target Android device: Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e (10nm Snapdragon 670, 4GB LPDDR4X R.A.M., eMMC 5.1 flash storage, 10.5in, 60Hz OLED, USB Type-C 3.0)
      • Same procedure as for Samsung Galaxy Tab S7
      • Flash the system recovery image
        • Same procedure as for Samsung Galaxy Tab S7
      • Flash the system image (from within Android System Recovery mode on the target Android device)
        • Custom System Image
        • Same procedure as for Samsung Galaxy Tab S7
