Javascript has nothing to do with Java Runtime Environment
Most users will not need Java Runtime Environment.
J.R.E. software package(s)
Absolutely no warranty given or implied; use entirely at your own riskProgram installs to /mnt/home/java (which is outside any existing pupsave file). This means that for frugal Puppy installations a Java installation is only retained when a pupsave file has already been created first. A pupsave file is created during the procedure of re-booting/shutting down for the very first time following a new Puppy installation.

For those on dial-up it is recommended to use the wget command, by entering into a terminal either of these two commands (file is downloaded to /mnt/home):
wget -t0 --retry-connrefused -c -N -S --wait=2 --random-wait --no-dns-cache --prefer-family=IPv6 --directory-prefix=/mnt/home --no-cache --no-cookies http://dpup.org/01Micko/lupu/jre-1.6.0.20.pet

Installation
- Automatic installation: use the above .pet software package; for frugal Puppy installations a Java installation is only retained when a pupsave file has already been created first; a pupsave file is created during the procedure of re-booting/shutting down for the very first time following a new Puppy installation.
- Manual installation:
./jre-6uXX-linux-i586.bin
If necessary, scroll down with the Enter key to accept the license agreement and then the install program will create a directory named something like jre1.6.0_XX.
