Saluki
Saluki is designed from the ground up for use as a base system for puplet developers. The Saluki Custom Puplet builder is a build system with unmatched precision and ease of use. You can change the apps, change the kernel, rename the sfs files, choose xorgwizard or automatic desktop, trim the zdrive, and customize the look and feel.

Status
Lead developer not currently working on the project. Development continues in the form of the Carolina project.

i'm a johny come lately here, but i love racy. Here's my 2 cents:
stability and reliability. nothing's more important than stability and reliability. This should be the #1 goal (for any new puppy).
all too often some app on my puppy will break when i install or remove something unrelated. then i have to reinstall the whole puppy from scratch. sometimes there are such issues on a nearly fresh puppy install. maybe a particular app will work right, maybe not.
that's just weak. for an OS that's been around as long as puppy, it should be more stable and reliable.
i believe this issue will relegate puppy to hobby-status forever, until it's addressed. i think it's puppy's #1 flaw.
to achieve greater stability and reliability, devs need to find the SOURCES of INstability and UNreliability.
there are probably many sources:
--missing dependencies is probably just one. If puppy package manager is smart enough to tell me about missing dependencies, it should be smart enough to download and install them for me.
--maybe woof or some other component needs to have more built-in checks and balances to assure compatibility.
--identify certain apps that have trouble on puppy.
--identify certain issues that have been dogging users all along.
--other causes?

I believe using a proper bug tracking system such as github.com would help find and remove bugs. this would not require any more organisation or structure - which are difficult when everything is done on a free or good will basis.

Fixed the keyboard issue - i will give the solution in the murga-linux topic above but basically you amend the property of the keyboard setting in the systray
And so yes this is an excellent OS - Well done Jemimah and team I now have Saluki in my Grub4dos options as the default OS on startup and as a full install on my hard drive using a USB stick to load Grub and control the boot.
Oh and all this on an Acer Aspire One Netbook
Now good question about downloading Saluki using Firefox in Saluki, so far I have been testing out the built in Midori - but in the interests of an answer I will go and get firefox and give it a whirl

Upgrade to Saluki 016 from 015 was straightforward once I found the instructions in the MurgaLinux thread - buried somewhere around page 135 from memory
