How to Flash (Write) a Computer Operating System (O.S.) to an Internal Data Storage Device such as H.D.D. or S.S.D.
- Verify sufficient free space available on the target partition of the internal storage device, using the command-line interface:
df -h
- Flash the O.S. to an external storage device (E.S.D.)
- Power-off the target computer
- Keep the E.S.D. connected to the U.S.B. port
- Power-on the target computer and set BootSequence
- If the computer does not boot/start from the E.S.D. it will be necessary to either access a boot menu, or the U.E.F.I/B.I.O.S. firmware settings, so that the computer is instructed to boot/start from the E.S.D. (and not any internal storage device)
- Re-starting will be necessary in conjunction with using the correct key(s).
- Configure the keyboard, locale & timezone settings {one is offered to do this either during start-up or immediately after}
- Prepare the internal storage device (OPTIONAL)
- After any modifications re-start the computer without saving any changes and with the E.S.D. connected
- Install to internal storage device (H.D.D. or S.S.D.)
- Power-off completely the computer
- Remove/Disconnect the E.S.D. from the U.S.B. port
- Power-on the computer
