x86

x86 is the most common architecture for desktop and laptop computers. The term became common after the introduction of the Intel 80386, it usually implies binary compatibility with the 32-bit instruction set of the 80386. Sometimes this is written as x86-32 to differentiate from the 64-bit x86-64. Intel, AMD and others manufacture microprocessors compatible with this standard.
